A Post That Will Get Me Hate Mail From Palm Pre Fanboys…

Most people who know me know that I am a TOTAL gadget queen. Over the past several years I have had at least a half a dozen different smart phones. All of them made by Palm. So it shouldn’t have been any surprise to anyone that when the Palm Pre was announced last year I literally peed my pants with glee.
So began the waiting game…I waited for MONTHS for this phone to be released. I thought it was literally going to be the bees knees…oh how wrong I was.
I’ve been using a Windows Mobile phone for the past two years, and for the 3 years before that I was a Palm OS user. I do like both Operating Systems, but I found Windows Mobile to be a bit more “modern” looking, which is I guess what drew me to the Web OS that is on the Palm Pre.

Kinoma Play on Treo Pro - Music, YouTube, Flickr, Twitter, Facebook - all in one.

My Owner loves her Kinoma Play. So much, in fact that she actually returned her brand new Palm Pre when she realized that this sleek, technology packed social machine couldn't even read an XML file and download her favorite podcasts over the air. No, this "iPhone killer" still relied on a desktop-based program to manage her music. I am afraid that Pre was sexy, yet very, very stupid. She pulled me back out of the drawer and, thanks to Kinoma Play, we are bestees again.

Kinoma Play simply makes me the smartest smartphone on the market. Kinoma Play allows me to seamlessly integrate with any XML-compliant site just as if the content were
on my local 32GB expansion card. Except, I am not limited to 32 measly gigabytes of content. I have access to virtually unlimited amounts of Youtube video, Flickr/Picassa pics, and podcasts (she is in love with Kevin Rose). I never have to sync with a desktop so my owner always has something to listen to, even when on the go. She models evening wear, so we are always traveling and that makes Kinoma invaluable. She doesn't even use her iPod any more. Her iPod hasn't been synced lately and doesn't have anything newer than some NPR from 2006. We meet tons of people and we are always getting Facebook requests. The latest release of Kinoma has a really cool Facebook interface that allows us to update her status and check in on all our friends. There is a cool Twitter app that includes Twitpic, but if you ask me she is addicted and uses it way too much. She has 4,200 followers and 12 of them have been issued restraining orders. Kinoma decided not to put MySpace in, but that doesn't bother us since all her MySpace friends just wanted to hook up with her anyway. She's sexy, not slutty.

One of the coolest features of Kinoma Play is the online search and catalog of content. Kinoma's online database is pretty extensive and finding new podcasts is a snap. Kinoma also has a new app store that makes it super easy to find cool aps like Winterface UI, which I have mentioned before. Think little black dress.

Y eah, I am windows-based like hundreds of other models, but I have gradual curves and a smooth body like a latin soap star.

So, tell me why you love me. Tell me why you hate me. But don't call me stupid or ugly.

Winterface UI

It's amazing how a new dress can can make a girl feel like a supermodel.
My owner installed Winterface UI. I feel so much sleeker and sexier.

She was always pushing my buttons , getting grease all over me. "Where is the camera", "how do I turn on Bluetooth?" she would say. I tried to tell her, "Start>>Programs>>cam . . . no, PROGRAMS, not PROGRAM FILES!" Or "Go to Settings Device settings, not phone settings! No those are ringtones, stupid!" After she molested me for a couple minutes, she finally would find what she was looking for and the Kodak moment had passed or the phonecall had gone to voicemail. It wasn't unusual for me to get so annoyed, that I would just lock up and not speak to her for a couple minutes. Oh, I was coming back, but I was so annoyed that it took me a few ticks to settle down. That's the part where she usually took the battery out and rebooted me.

Our relationship was disfunctional to say the least. Plus, my UI was getting a little long in the tooth and I was looking outdated.

That's when she brought home Winterface UI and let me try it on. Talk about exposure! Winterface is the most revealing thing I have ever worn. Immediately, my owner was able to find nearly everything she needed. Camera, Bluetooth, Contacts, even File Explorer was only one click away! She tailored Winterface to make it a little more form fitting for her tastes, putting a pair of apps, Kinoma Play and a link to Google reader, right up front where she could get to them. She is a little lazy and doesn't like to work to hard to get to the good stuff.

Of course, she moved my brains to the second page. ActiveSync, Memory Manager, and my favorite - Voice Command, were all pushed down the priority list. Still easy to get to, but not to come out unless she asks for them. She even found a new program called "Sleep". One click and it put me out faster than a $2 shot of tequila. Kinoma and other programs can continue to run and she can still play with them while I'm out, via Bluetooth A2DP and AVRCP. Not sure what she does with those.

I should tell you that I did try on Spb Shell, and although it was a little sexier, it came apart in the wash and I had to return it the very next day. Just couldn't handle my add-ons, I guess.

Try on Winterface and let me know how it fits!
